Cloud Net brings Multi-Ring Follow Me to business VoIP users

Never miss a business call again – multiple VoIP landlines and mobiles ring at the same time

11 May 2010.  Cloud Net, the business phone systems company, has introduced its advanced Multi-Ring Follow Me service, which rings a user’s landline and mobile phones simultaneously until the call is picked up on whichever handset a user selects.   The feature also allows teams to set up incoming calls to be received on multiple users’ handsets, regardless of whether they are mobile or fixed lines.

“Unlike other many other UK VoIP providers, Cloud Net owns its own network and has a dedicated developer team, so enabling us to listen to our customers’ requirements and develop new features to improve our service offering,” said David Hill, Chairman of Cloud Net.

The new Multi-Ring feature overcomes the issues with diverting desk phones to mobiles: the call will no longer ring off on the desk phone as it does with normal follow me or call divert services; the call recipient will be confident that the incoming call is professional business call, since they will be greeted with a message informing them that “follow me call” is waiting and invited to press 1 to receive the call; small business VoIP users who may not have a separate business mobile, will no longer have to remember to turn off their diverts and finally, the service helps to combat the problems of business calls diverted to mobiles which are passing through poor signal areas, by routing the call automatically to a business landline.

Existing follow me services Cloud Net Multi-Ring advanced follow me
When call rings on mobile, ring tone disappears on landline Ring tone carries on until answered
Divert from mobile to landline causes infinite loop No such problem
Diverts need to be deactivated No such problem
Divert on no answer fails No such problem

Users can also set up an incoming number to ring multiple lines. For example, the Cloud Net system rings the main incoming landline and team members’ mobiles and desk phones simultaneously. The first recipient to get to the call can then answer by picking up on any one of the phones – pressing 1 to accept the call.

“We have developed this service in response to customer feedback and the launch of services such as Vodafone Sure Signal.  Our Multi-Ring service requires no investment in new hardware for our existing users.  For teams, the new service ensures that even in busy periods someone will answer the call, even if that person is away from the office on their mobile,” commented Charles Chance, MD of Cloud Net.

The new feature is part of Cloud Net’s all inclusive monthly business phone package.  Cloud Net’s monthly packages start from £8.50 for an all inclusive switchboard including an IP phone and features such as voicemail, conference calling, voice recording, IVR and fax handling. Cloud Net VoIP handsets currently include a Cloud Net IP phone, Grand stream operator phone or a Siemens Cordless DECT phone.

Oral Roberts University Selects Enterasys Over HP and Brocade for Campus Network Upgrade

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

ANDOVER, MA, May 03, 2010 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) — Enterasys, the network infrastructure and security division of Siemens Enterprise Communications GmbH & Co KG, today announced that Oral Roberts University of Oklahoma has deployed Enterasys solutions to achieve a more automated IT infrastructure providing high-availability connectivity for more than 3,000 students and 700 staff across its main campus. Through Enterasys solutions and support, the University’s small IT staff now leverages an easily managed campus network that will support future initiatives such as VoIP and streaming video.

“We evaluated several leading network providers when it came time to replace existing Cisco infrastructure, including HP and Brocade solutions,” said Tannie Olsen, CIO with Oral Roberts University. “With Enterasys, we saw an opportunity to not only replace the entire network, but also immediately realize the benefits of the performance, security, management and support features that would have been cost-prohibitive add-ons with other vendors’ solutions. We now have a high-end, QoS platform on which we can launch the next-generation services our students and faculty will need as the University grows.”

Enterasys engineers and support team members worked closely with the University’s network operations staff to meet an aggressive upgrade timetable, replacing the entire network topology in a single weekend. Enterasys Modular and Stackable switches now serve at the network’s core and distribution layers, delivering high-speed, reliable network access to all campus network users, including students, faculty, contractors and guests. Over the University’s summer break, the deployment’s next phase was completed, including the installation of Enterasys Network Management Suite (NMS) and Security Information and Event Manager (SIEM), for granular visibility and control that reaches beyond ports and VLANs down to individual users, applications, and protocols.

“Students love to plug devices into our network, and with SIEM and NMS, no matter how many moves, adds or changes occur in our environment, we can keep everything in view and under control through role-based access controls and network behavior monitoring,” Olsen said. “NMS can even manage beyond Enterasys hardware to deliver standards-based control of other vendors’ network equipment, including our wireless network equipment. We were told by other vendors that this type of granular control wasn’t possible at the price point we required.”

The University’s IT team also sees great value in Enterasys’ award-winning Global Technical Assistance Center (GTAC) and training support programs. “Coming from a Cisco background, I was concerned about being up to speed on the management of our new network,” said Carlos Maldonado, network and security administrator for Oral Roberts University. “We have found the training offered by Enterasys to be of excellent quality, and the GTAC team is the best technical support team we have ever worked with. We never have to jump through hoops when we have a question, and they work quickly and responsively to resolve any issues.”

Flyers Rights Announces Launch of New Application to Empower Passengers on the Day the New DOT Tarmac Rule Takes Effect

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

Today, National Airline Passenger Rights Advocate and Executive Director of FlyersRights.org, Kate Hanni announced the launch of a new application that will empower passengers by providing real time data on the status of their flights via GPS. Hanni also expressed concern impact of a proposed ban on cellular communications and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) in the House version of the pending Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reauthorization legislation that could curtail the rights of passengers to use new technologies while on board commercial aircraft.

“It is essential that airline passengers are empowered with the latest applications and in-flight technology to ensure that the airlines are accountable and full compliance with the new 3 Hour Tarmac Rule, going into effect today at the Department of Transportation,” said Hanni. “Passengers in the U.S. should be allowed to avail themselves of in-flight connectivity and technology to capture, record, and transmit information vital to the enforcement of their new rights.”

With the new application, available on FlyersRights.org website, the GPS component of the iPhone will be able to pinpoint a passenger’s location and the passenger will confirm location.

The passenger will be able to input their airline and flight information into a centralized database and update their status in terms of delays or cancellations while in flight. Passengers will also be able to take photos, video and audio recordings and attach them to the record in real time.

The House of Representatives version of the FAA bill, passed last year, contains language that would ban the usage of cellular communications and VoIP on commercial aircraft in U.S. airspace. The recently passed Senate version of the FAA legislation contains no ban. Currently, 20 international air carriers, flying to 72 nations around the world are equipped with in-flight cellular service — with over 2.3 million passengers a month flying on aircraft with the service.

“The enforcement and protection of rights of people around the globe have become increasingly dependent upon the transmission of data and images in real time thanks to cellular technology,” added Hanni. “Rather than ban it outright, Congress should allow the FAA and the FCC to evaluate the use of in-flight voice service and connectivity as a valuable tool for passengers in the U.S. taking into account potential benefits to consumers and the real world experience of its deployment throughout the rest of the world.”

Monitis Introduces A New SSH/Telnet Server Management Tool

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

/newswire/ – San Jose, CA, United States, 05/03/2010 – Monitis, the leading provider of all-in-one Cloud-based network and application monitoring suite, today announced a major new product launch: a SSH/Telnet-based server management tool.

This critical addition to Monitis’ already revolutionary toolkit enables users to not only monitor their servers, but immediately fix them, as well.

Available free within Monitis’ all-in-one suite of tools, the new SSH/Telnet Server Management Tool is activated when users click on the SSH/Telnet icon. This opens a telnet screen, which enables users to access a given server and perform server management functions like restarting applications and cleaning storage.

Lightweight and available from any web browser, Monitis’ new SSH/Telnet Server Management Tool opens SSH/Telnet access to any device connected to the internet. Besides supporting ANSI formatting and enabling file uploads via SCP, the tool is especially useful when users setup Cloud monitoring. The auto-login feature means there is no need to remember logins and IP addresses – routine hassles that are inconvenient and drain time and productivity from IT managers’ already overloaded schedules.

Monitis already offers platform-independent monitoring of public and private clouds (like Amazon’s EC2 or Rackspace’s cloud), and provides lists of running instances. With its new SSH/Telnet Server Management Tool, Monitis users now only need to click on an instance and open automatically logged-in terminal access to that particular service. This significantly reduces the time required to fix problems and ultimately leads to better up-time.

According to Monitis’ Founder and CEO, Hovhannes Avoyan, “Monitis’ new SSH/Telnet Server Management Tool changes the game. It helps IT managers move from monitoring problems to fixing them in one-click. It further reinforces our mission of helping the world’s IT managers save massive amounts of time.”

About Monitis All-in-One Monitoring Platform

Monitis is the only service that provides Cloud Monitoring from the Cloud. It is leading a new era of systems management tools – the Cloud generation. Monitis is a 100% Cloud-based, complete, and flexible IT monitoring solution, offered on a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) model.

Monitis consolidates back-end monitoring, application monitoring, website monitoring, and cloud monitoring in an all-in-one, central monitoring service. The platform is easily customizable and may be used for managing of all kinds of IT assets such as websites, servers, routers, switches, VoIP devices, DNS, databases, processes and any other IP devices. Monitis provides users with a comprehensive view of their system’s health and performance.

About Monitis

Monitis believes that the Cloud is the biggest thing to happen in IT management since IT management. Having seen this vision early, Monitis is now the global leader in developing this market. It is the first affordable network and systems monitoring solution based 100% in the Cloud.

Besides Monitis’ enthusiastic and loyal user base of 50,000 customers from small businesses to Fortune 500 companies to government agencies and educational institutions, Monitis has won rave reviews from the technology analyst community. Recently, because it’s Cloud-based monitoring helps companies reduce system downtime, improve the productivity of their IT staff, and reduce operational expenditures, Monitis was named the Most Innovative Start-up for 2009 by The 451 Group at their annual Client Conference. In April 2010 Monitis were named as one the OnDemand 100 for 2010 – a ranking by Morgan Stanley, KPMG, and AlwaysOn of the world’s top 100 private companies that are taking old notions of data management, customer relationships, and infrastructure and forging solutions that will lead to industry shake-up and huge value creation opportunities.

Monitis (monitis.com) was founded in 2005 by a team of seasoned entrepreneurs and fed-up and worn-out developers who were tired of complaining about the limits of software-based tools, while inspired by the promise of the Cloud. Headquartered in San Jose, CA, Monitis is lead by a team of IT professionals with deep experience running enterprise-grade IT businesses, as well as starting and selling several IT start-ups. Using a global workforce, particularly its R&D team based in Yerevan, Armenia, Monitis is poised to move from strength to strength. At present, it has a loyal and enthusiastic user community of 50,000, and an average month-on-month revenue growth of over 10%.

Ooma PureVoice Technology: The New Standard for Home Phone Sound Quality

Sunday, May 2nd, 2010
— April 19, 2010 —

OOMA PUREVOICE™ TECHNOLOGY: THE NEW STANDARD FOR HOME PHONE SOUND QUALITY
Ooma also announces Google Voice Extensions and Voicemail Transcriptions Now Available for Ooma Premier Subscribers

PALO ALTO, Calif., April 19, 2010 - Ooma, Inc. today announced the availability of Ooma PureVoice™ technology, designed to ensure excellent voice quality under the most demanding broadband conditions.

Ooma PureVoice technology is comprised of four key components:

Advanced voice compression
Ooma uses an advanced voice compression algorithm that reduces bandwidth consumption by 60% over standard VoIP technology and is more capable of withstanding packet loss without degradation. This leaves you with more bandwidth for all other online activities and increases the likelihood that your voice traffic will be delivered properly by your ISP.

Wire-speed QoS
Even though Ooma uses only a fraction of the bandwidth of standard VoIP technology, preserving voice quality requires that those packets arrive on time. The Ooma Telo prioritizes voice packets without slowing down the rest of your network. This way you can enjoy crystal clear calls even as you are uploading your latest video clips.

Adaptive redundancy
Packet loss is the enemy of VoIP – it can cause voice to sound stuttered or garbled. The Ooma Telo detects packet loss on your Internet connection and automatically sends redundant packets to boost the clarity of your phone call.

Encrypted calls
Ooma takes your privacy seriously. We use the same encryption technology to protect your conversations that governments use to protect classified data. This makes Ooma even more secure than the traditional landline.

For more information and to listen to the differences between Ooma with PureVoice Technology and other services, go to: www.ooma.com/purevoice.

“Ooma is dedicated to improving our customers’ home phone experience. With today’s announcement of PureVoice Technology and the added features of Google Voice Extensions and Voicemail Transcription for our Premier subscribers, we are excited to take the next step in making the home phone experience relevant and meaningful again” said Tami Bhaumik, Vice President of Corporate Marketing at Ooma. “Ooma’s goal is to provide features that continue to improve the home calling experience, including integrating home and mobile calling features to save consumers time and money.”

Ooma has also announced the availability of new home smart phone features including Google Voice Extensions and Ooma Voicemail Transcriptions.

Google Voice Extensions
Ooma simplifies and enhances the Google Voice user experience, enabling consumers to take advantage of the complementary capabilities found in both offerings for a truly integrated and seamless phone experience. Google Voice users can integrate the Call Presentation, Listen In, and caller-ID features with their Ooma system as well as access Google Voice voicemail at a touch of a button. Now, consumers can enjoy one voicemail box for all their phone messages and present one caller-ID to all callers.

Ooma Voicemail Transcriptions
This service converts Ooma voicemail messages into text and delivers it to a mobile phone or email account associated with the Ooma profile. Benefits of Ooma Voice-to-Text:
Read voicemail wherever there’s email access — on a mobile phone, portable device or computer
Quickly see who called and what they called about
No need to write down phone number or directions — it’s all there in your inbox
Choose to respond to the voicemail through email by just forwarding your response to the caller

Ooma Voicemail-to-Text service is available to Ooma Premier subscribers only for $9.99 per month. This plan includes 40 messages; additional messages are $0.25 each.

Availability
Ooma PureVoice Technology, Google Voice Extensions, and Voice-to-Text are now available to Ooma Telo customers. The Ooma Telo and Ooma Telo Handset are available at Ooma authorized resellers including: Best Buy, Datavision, Fry’s Electronics, J&R, Micro Center, and leading online destinations including Amazon, BestBuy.com, Buy.com, Costco.com, Dell.com, JandR.com, NewEgg.com, OfficeDepot.com, PC Mall, Provantage, Shop Harmony, Staples.com, Sears.com, K-Mart.com, Tiger Direct, RCS, Nebraska Furniture Mart, B&H Photo and Walmart.com.
