  • 22 February 2012, 8:41 pm: Does this router have a sip alg?
I have access to wireless internet provided by Brighthouse through a Netgear CGD24G Wireless Cable Modem Gateway. My softphone configured to voip.ms works but I am not sure if its working because theres no sip alg or if voip.ms is "fixing it" on there end to make it work. Unlike my 2wire, this router doesn't have a page showing the active NAT sessions or anything else useful. Is there an easy way to test if the router is mangling sip packets? -- Dovahkiin, Dovahkiin naal ok zin los vahriin wah dein vokul mahfaeraak ahst vaal! hello all please help. here is my issue !!!! i ported a number for a friend from Comcast land line service to voip.ms every day from around 12pm - 6 pm if i call that number from different providers such as Verizon or T mobile i get a fast busy signal every 5-6 phone calls. Spoke to support over @ Voip.ms and the keep telling me to do en echo test ... did that sent them a log of timed failed calls witch i did by hand and still nothing. i am using free bx with elastix 2.2 and Grandstream GXP 1400, 2100 2120 phones .... They keep telling me to check my CDR for the call logs ... the problem is the failed calls never reaches my CDR. the other day i lost it on them we did a trace and what ever the tech did i was able to get to an echo test 50 out of 50 attempts and here it is 5 days later and same problem again. i also purchased a did from Voip.ms for my friend because he wanted to have two numbers ... what is mind bugling to me is that i can call the second number and reach his office 10 out of 10 times ... but when i call the number i ported to Voip.ms From Comcast it gets a busy every 4-5 phone calls . hope some one can help me thank you

  • 22 February 2012, 7:40 am: [Other] going to voip for home phone
Guys I'm wanting to turn off our home phone I have a decent internet connection at home right now I'm on the 100meg plain. I used to used voip years back Vonage, Tmobile at home and ATT Callvantage. However this time around I want to try something different mainly I plan to use install the Obi110 http://www.amazon.com/OBi110-Service-Bridge-Telephone-Adapter/dp/B0045RMEPI/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1329914130&sr=8-2 this will allow me to integrate and use or actual house phones with Google voice however the device also allows for sip. I found Sipgate out on the web but I wonder is this service truly free because I've read posting where inbound calls is free but after the first month you pay a small fee for outbound calling. So guys I ask what are some free to low cost good quality sip providers out there?
  • 22 February 2012, 12:30 am: [Future9] ATA to ATA calls with one ATA overseas?
I use Future Nine and Call With Us. I am willing to change or add services, but my question: My family lives in the Philippines. I understand that if I got them an ATA such as the Linksys PAP2T like I already have, calls between our ATAs will be less expensive than calling her cell phone or a landline, is that correct? Is there a way to open a second account and ATA with the above providers or other providers, and is doing this allowed or can I get in trouble? I may finally be able to afford to get her an ATA, internet, and a cheap computer in a few months and I thought since I spend anywhere from 30-90 a month on calling her, the trade off of paying a monthly internet fee there and keeping a second account would be easily traded off if I could greatly lower the cost of my calling. I would still need to call other numbers and cell phones there from time to time, but the idea of her getting internet and an ATA would be really great for our kid there. Many of you know I have a very tight income, which may improve just a little in the coming weeks, so I might buy a used laptop and send it to her (computers are outrageously expensive there, and crappy). But that also brings to mind, is there any way that broadband providers there can block her use of an ATA? I think she may be limited to DSL, I don't know of cable BBD exists there. She lives in the Cebu area. -- Join Teams Helix and Discovery. Rest in Peace, Leonard David Smith, my best friend, you are missed badly! Rest in peace, Pop, glad our last years were good. • 21 February 2012, 3:02 pm: [General] Change CNAM, Caller ID Name
I logged into my PhonePower account online and it shows that my CNAM is my name. However there’s a 15-letter limit so my CNAM is mangled. I asked PhonePower to change my CNAM and they refused. Outbound CNAM doesn’t seem to be working anyway. Are there any VoIP providers that let you change your CNAM to a string of your choice?
  • 21 February 2012, 1:29 pm: How do I keep Broadvoice from hacking my cisco 504G
I have had BV for years was having problems, they would not provide another ATA so I bought a 504G to test and try callcentric and voip.ms. I had to work with BV so they could "provision" my new device. During this process they set an admin password which is needed to reset the phone. They locked me out. I eventually got the admin password, changed both the admin and user pass and configured callcentric. After a few hours they go into my phone and blew away all the callcentric information and the faster DNS IP I configured. I do not know who they think they are and I do not know exactly how to stop it in a DMZ zone. What do I have to do to stop BV from hacking into my phone and blowing away configurations I have set-up?
